Still Obsessing

Yep. Still obsessing over this album: I wanted to say it makes me “sad but happy” or “happily sad” but I think the proper phrase, in this case then, is “voluntary wistfulness”. Voluntary wistfulness is also my description for pretty much every Wes Anderson movie.

Beaten to the punch

You know that annoying habit I have of, upon hearing a phrase that tickles my ear in some way, saying “That’s going to be the name of my next band/album?” Well these dudes beat me to the punch on this one. May I introduce to you And, yes, they friggin’ rock some post-punk surf music.

Torch me up

Torch music that has the intended effect: The number of female vocalists on “my list” reads like a prospectus for the next TLC polyamory-sploitation reality series.

Pr0nado

Speedometer’s This is… Vol 1 & 2 album [1] is like a whole album of 70’s pr0n soundtrack cuts. Nothing overtly sleazy, mind you, just chock full of the kind of jazzy funk wah wah plus full horn line awesome that usually serves as bed music (heh) in your higher quality vintage pr0n. Makes a…

Ecoutez — The playlist

So here’s the playlist for my Mefi 2013-2 Swap cd. Linked files are flac (lossless, large, and possibly an issue for non-techie/Windows folks). All tracks downloaded are roughly 450MB so plan accordingly… Commando Spatial :: Orchestre dirige Jacques Dejean avec Virginie Rodin Palladium The Hip :: Liz Brady Fille a la Moto :: Dani Rouge,…

Not Safe For Working

I’ve been listening to a lot of People Like Us because, well, Vicki has been publishing to the podcast again. Hooray! Anyway, this has been laying around for a bit so I thought I’d pepper it with a few more samples and finally get it out there for someone to listen to. Not Safe For:…
